Learning platform/MLE developments

The London Borough of Waltham Forest will be deploying the Fronter Learning Platform http://fronter.co.uk/uk/ procured by the London Grid for Learning. Fronter was chosen by an evaluation group consisting of representatives of all the borough schools.

Fronter was founded in Norway in 1998 and is now used by more than two million users in 2,000 learning institutions through eight countries.

Ramesys will integrate its central online services with the new MLE and plans to run a pilot with sample BSF schools in the summer term 2008.

Ramesys, the Authority and LGfL have developed a customised Learning Platform package for the schools, including some additional support services, which will be presented to the Learning Platform Steering group in February. Once the package is agreed by the Learning Platform Steering Group, consisting of representatives of WF schools, details will be disseminated to all schools through this newsletter and by the Authority's ICT champion, Christian Smith.
